We are excited to announce that on September 8th we will launch STEPS – a gospel centered recovery study. The STEPS study was released last December by Lifeway. This Spring, select members of The Mount church walked through the curriculum and have been preparing to teach, lead & mentor in this program. We will have limited seats, so begin praying and register quickly to reserve your spot.
What is STEPS?
Steps is an intensive 13-week discipleship program that consists of daily Bible study and reflection, one-on-one mentoring, sharing in small groups, and a large-group teaching time. The mission of Steps fits into the church’s greater mission of "glorifying God as disciples making disciples" through gospel-centered worship, community, service and multiplication. This program is designed to help encourage through obedience in faithful response to what the gospel has already accomplished and promised.
Who is STEPS for?
Honestly... everyone. This is aimed for men & women, 18 and up, that is affected by the slavery of sin and suffering. Suffering can be the result of the person’s own sin, the sin of another or the result of living in a fallen world. Steps is for those that want to grow stronger in their obedience by identifying and making war on areas that hinder them to walk freely through their faith in Christ. We believe the gospel is both sufficient and supreme in finding freedom from addiction and other forms of slavery.
What can you expect from STEPS?
Through Steps you will experience a structured, purposed discipleship that addresses the motivations and desires of the heart. Through this process of personal and corporate Bible study and prayer, God exposes our misplaced and idolatrous motivations and desires so that we might turn from sin and submit to the loving and gracious rule of Jesus. We want people to connect relationally, understand their problem biblically and apply the gospel practically, while walking in wisdom horizontally and faithfulness vertically.
This will be your commitment;
-I commit to complete the personal study and assessments each week during Steps.
-I commit to be honest with my group, my leader, mentor, God, and myself.
-I commit to be present for the group session each week.
-I commit to participate in the discussion and to actively listen during the teaching.
When & Where will STEPS be?
Steps will be on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30pm, starting on September 8th and ending on December 8th. It will be held in the Student Center on The Mount campus and childcare will be provided in the Children’s Building. (There is no cost to you for childcare.)
