INTRODUCTION
“We Are The Church” - Unified by the Spirit, Multiplying for God’s glory. As a church body we covenant as members of God’s house, called to participate & serve together, sacrificially committed and well equipped for “the work of the ministry” (Eph 4:11-12), building each other up in love & faith, to attain unity, peace & knowledge of Christ for God’s glory. In the Book of Acts when “the church” (the people) live for Jesus in such a way, we God “multiply” the church (Acts 2:47,9:31).

Key Passages: Acts 9:31; Ephesians 2:19; 4:11-12; Acts 4:42-47
   Other: _______________________________________________________________

QUESTIONS

  1. Ask if someone can give the primary sermon points to refresh the message (be prepared to do this yourself if needed).
  2. Read Acts 9:31. As an individual, how do you have “peace”?  How are you “being built up”? … “walking in the fear of the Lord”? … and in “comfort of the Holy Spirit”? (answers vary)
    1. As a church body and/or Community Group, how do we have “peace”; how are we “being built up”, “walking in the fear of the Lord” & “…in the comfort of the Holy Spirit? (reference Acts 2:42-47, 9:31)
    2. “[The church] multiplied.” What does that mean? In what ways can a church “multiply”? (in salvations, in making disciples) Discuss difference in “getting conversions” (salvations) and “making disciples”. (disciple means follower, learner, pupil [of a teacher])
  3. The Mount recognizes a “covenant membership”. Define “Covenant” in your own words. (A written agreement or promise, usually sealed, by two or more parties especially for the performance of some action.)
    1. Why do you think we “covenant” together in “membership” at The Mount? (unity, peace, care, shepherding & authority but ultimately to make disciples who glorify God)
  4. What are some things we biblically covenant to together? (Reference our Mission & Core Values (below); early church in Acts 2 devoted themselves together to biblical teaching, to the common cause of Christ, to fellowship together and to prayer; sacrificially living and giving.
    1. What do these additional verses identify as characteristics of people in God’s church?
Proverbs 3:1-12 (truth, love, faithfulness, trust, humility, stewardship, obedience)
      Psalm 105:1-2 (praise and worship)
2 Corinthians 5:17 (becoming more and more like Jesus; growing, walking in holiness)
  5. Ask if there are any other personal observations or takeaways from the scripture or sermon.

PRAYER FOCUS
Pray that we can be builders of peace and walk in fear of & comfort from the Lord; that God would multiply His church. Pray for leadership at The Mount (Elders, Deacons, Staff, Teachers, Coaches, Leaders, etc) for wisdom, for continued unity & peace, and for multiplication of leaders.
