INTRODUCTION
“ON MISSION” - As disciples of Jesus, our primary response and purpose is to glorify God. One way we do this is by “making (other) disciples” that will glorify God.  We talked last week about what a true disciple looks like. This week we look at “making disciples”.  What does it look like to “make a disciple”? How do we do this? Thankfully the bible doesn’t leave us hanging here.
Key Passages:  Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Matthew 4:19
Other: _______________________________________________________________

QUESTIONS

  1. Ask if someone can give the primary sermon points to refresh the message (be prepared to do this yourself if needed).
  2. How would you define or explain in your own words what it is to “make disciples”? (let a couple people describe this)
  3. Read Matthew 28:18-20. Jesus commissions us (all believers) to “go therefore and make disciples…”. In other words, “as you are going, … be making disciples”.
    1. But Jesus continues, He gives instruction of two things necessary for “making disciples”, what are they? (baptizing and teaching)
      1. For one to be “baptized”, what has to happen? What leads to someone being baptized?  What MUST we be doing? See Mark 16:15 and Matt 4:19 (gospel proclaimed and then belief; conversion or salvation)
      2. What happens when we “teach others”? (Eph 4:15; spiritual growth and maturity)
      3. What are ways we “teach others”? (Luke 24:27, helps others understand scripture; Deut 6:6 Word in our heart, and v7-9 talk about Bible to kids and others; Eph 4:15 speak truth)
    2. In light of these two realities, we see “GO” and “GROW”.
      1. What are things needed in your life for you to be a faithful disciple (going and growing)? (personal; allow time)
      2. What are some steps you can take towards “making (other) disciples”? (in home, at work, with friends?)
  4. Ask if there are any other personal observations or takeaways from the scripture or sermon.

PRAYER FOCUS
Pray that the Lord would show you [us], each Community Group, how we can make much of Jesus together as we help each other make disciples. Pray for all for a surrendered life of disciple making.
